Project for a vast new residential development in Moscow based on a new master plan (by others) of standard urban city blocks.
Concept is that of "Urban Villas", 10 point block buildings define the street edge of the public space, while creating an internal private courtyard.
All multi-room apartments are at the corners of the buildings, with views to the courtyard and light from at least 2 directions. Solar access in
winter is assured by the freestanding arrangement of the 10 buildings and the internal layout of each block. Below the courtyard is a parking garage,
1/2 level down from the street, and accessed internally from each building lobby for weather protection/security for all residents.
Competition 2010, Moscow Russia.
Project advanced to 2nd round. Included in exhibit "Frontiers of Architecture II : Living" Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark - June 2011.
