Project for a new public community library. Organized around a central courtyard, all functions arranged around this two-story space, providing light into the center of the building and creating internal views across the courtyard. The ground floor consists of meeting rooms of various sizes with views into the courtyard; the first floor the reading rooms and shelf space, including separate children's library and general collections. Open views to the wooded park, to the north, and views into the courtyard create quiet well lit spaces. Closed facades at ground level shield the interior spaces from street noise and distractions. The urban plan follows the street edge established by the existing building fabric, with the entrance opening to the existing park area north of the site.
