Project for a new non-denominational chapel located within an existing retirement community for US Air Force personnel.
Massive white brick volume is intended to enhance the simple power of prayer and contemplation reminiscent of early Christian churches,
as well as establishing the place of the chapel within the semi-suburban character of the existing residential development.
Large doors open to welcome the congregation from the front plaza. A rear courtyard is formed for quiet with-drawl and interaction among residents.
Simplicity and clarity as an antidote for the cultural noise of contemporary life.
